In Hindu culture, names carry deep meaning — and mine is no exception. Arushri holds two powerful meanings: the first ray of the sun and a name of Goddess Mahalakshmi, the symbol of grace, strength, and abundance.
But what makes my name truly special is the story behind it.
I was the first baby girl born in my family, and everyone was overjoyed. So much so that everyone wanted to name me — my nana (mamma's father), dadi (grandmother), chachu (uncle), bua (papa's sister), and my mamma, each had a name picked out. Rather than choosing one, my family decided to honour each suggestion through a small but meaningful ceremony.
They lit five diyas, each representing one of the chosen names. The name that belonged to the diya that stayed lit the longest… would be mine.
And that’s how I became Arushri — the name my dadi had lovingly chosen.
A name chosen by light and carried by love.
My Birth Symbols: 🌊☀️✨🪷
When we were little, Christmas was pure magic.
My cousins — Sikander, Samrat, and Adamya — would come home for their long winter break, and our house would come alive with laughter, chaos, and excitement.
On Christmas Eve, we’d all go to bed early, bundled together on one big bed, giggling under the covers, whispering about Santa Claus and how he might sneak in through the window that night.
And then… Christmas morning.
We’d wake up to find our bed covered in gifts, chocolates, candies, colour books — as if Santa had really come while we were sleeping.
And for the longest time, we truly believed it. We didn’t know it was actually my parents, gently tricking us into sleeping early so they could sneak out to the shopping centre and bring our little dreams to life.
Looking back now, I kind of hate growing up.
That innocence, that belief, that wide-eyed wonder — I miss it deeply.
But this memory… it’s hands down the most beautiful experience I had as a child.
It’s meant to be passed on. ✨🎄🎅🏻
